Presenting a new original work from the studio of Philip Gladstone "Bird on the Wire (for Rocco Morabito)" About this work: Bird on the Wire is a mashup of two iconic historical images, amalgamated by Philip Gladstone here to suggest a new, layered story with timely emotional resonance for the artist. In the background of this work are, of course, elements borrowed from Pablo Picasso's celebrated oil Guernica, while the foreground pays homage to, and invests new meaning in, a well-known Pulitzer prize winning photograph known as The Kiss of Life captured by news photographer Rocco Morabito for the now-defunct Jacksonville (Florida) Journal in 1967. Read the story behind Mr. Morabito's photograph and see the original at historydaily.org↗
